About Dambulla
The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Situated atop a massive rock, the complex consists of five caves filled with over 150 Buddha statues and exquisite paintings covering an area of 2,100 square meters. The murals depict scenes from the life of the Buddha and the history of Sri Lanka, dating back to the 1st century BC. The site offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and on clear days, you can see Sigiriya Rock in the distance.
